The Man Behind the Name
Before there was Jiffy Reach, Jiffy Jr Development, or anything else I’ve created under the Jiffy name, there was my dad.
Jeff. Or, as most people know him, Jiffy.
My dad has spent much of his life doing what he could to provide for the people he loves.
Before I was born, he worked as a bartender at Crystal Falls. Later, he spent approximately 26 years working at Pacon.
He and my mom married in 1993, and together they raised five children. Today, he’s also a grandfather.
He wasn’t someone who had everything handed to him. He worked, raised a family, and did the best he could with what life gave him.
And somewhere along the way, his name became part of mine.
Jiffy Jr.
It’s more than a gaming name or a development brand. It’s a connection to my dad. A name I’m proud to carry forward, and one I hope I can make him proud to see.
When Life Changes What You Can Do
My dad has low vision.
Over time, his eyesight affected his ability to continue working, eventually leading to an early retirement.
After spending so much of his life working and providing for his family, that was a significant change.
And it made me think about something I’ve become increasingly passionate about.
Technology has come an incredibly long way. We have computers capable of extraordinary things, artificial intelligence that can understand and explain information, and software that can automate tasks in seconds.
Yet something as ordinary as navigating a computer can still be incredibly frustrating or inaccessible for someone with limited vision.
Why should that be the case?
Why shouldn’t someone be able to talk to their computer, ask what’s on the screen, navigate a complicated application, or accomplish everyday tasks without needing to see every button?
And why should technology that makes those things possible be financially out of reach?
Turning Inspiration Into Something Real
I’ve spent years learning to create software, websites, applications, and other projects.
I don’t have a giant development team behind me. I don’t have a huge company funding everything.
What I do have is a passion for building things and a desire to make something that matters.
That’s where Jiffy Reach comes in.
I wanted to create an accessibility application that gives people with low or no vision more independence when using their computers.
Something that could read, explain, navigate, assist, and grow alongside the people using it.
And I wanted there to be a genuinely useful free version.
Because I don’t believe someone should have to pay a monthly subscription just to have meaningful access to their own computer.
Jiffy Reach may offer advanced paid AI capabilities to help sustain development, but accessibility itself should never be treated as a luxury.
A Legacy I Hope to Build
My dad didn’t sit down and write the code for Jiffy Reach.
He didn’t have to.
His life, his experiences, and the name I’ve carried forward helped inspire what I’m trying to accomplish.
I’ve always wanted to make him proud.
And if Jiffy Reach becomes something that genuinely changes people’s lives, I want him to know that he was part of the reason it exists.
Not because of a line of code, but because of the person he is and the example he gave me.
What started as a project inspired by one person has the potential to help thousands.
Maybe someday, even more.
And that would mean more to me than I could put into words.
Jiffy Reach is inspired by my dad, built with love, and created for everyone who deserves a better way to experience technology.
